Cardiogeneticist, researcher, and advocate for precision medicine in inherited cardiac disorders.
Dr. Mohamed El Hachmi is a cardiogeneticist- Genetic Counsellor with dual PhDs from Sapienza University of Rome and Paris Cité University. He specializes in the diagnosis, management, and research of inherited cardiac disorders, with particular focus on hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, vascular Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, and cardiac amyloidosis.
Dr. El Hachmi's journey in medicine began in Belgium at UCL. Driven by a fascination with the genetic underpinnings of disease, he pursued specialized training in genetic counseling at the University of Siena and biotechnology at the University of Perugia in Italy.
His groundbreaking work in cardiogenetics has led to significant advancements in the understanding and treatment of inherited cardiac disorders. As cardiogeneticist at Hôpital Européen Georges Pompidou in Paris and Cochin Hopital, he established protocols for genetic testing and precision medicine approaches that have improved outcomes for patients with rare cardiac conditions.
Currently, Dr. El Hachmi serves on the Executive Board of the European Board of Medical Genetics, where he contributes to setting standards for genetic medicine practice across Europe. He maintains an active research program focusing on translating genetic discoveries into clinical applications, always with the goal of improving patient care through personalized approaches.
His clinical philosophy centers on combining scientific rigor with compassionate patient care, ensuring that complex genetic information is communicated effectively to empower patients and families in their healthcare decisions.
